Aidan was an Irish monk who founded a great monastery and center of scholarly knowledge, on the Isle of Lindisfarne, in the 7th century CE.   A contemporary of St. Columba of Iona, Aidan was responsible for the construction of churches and schools throughout Northumbria, while earning a reputation for his works of charity.

 The knot incorporated into this ring is taken from the Lindisfarne Gospels and signifies Eternal Safety.
